I must confess that I was looking for a little more substance on the nose of the 2012 La Tour Blanche. It offers light honeysuckle aromas, but it does not possess real presence. The palate is crisp and balanced on the entry. It is taciturn at first, but over ten minutes it develops more weight and vigor, although it does drop away right on the finish. This is a decent effort from the estate in a difficult vintage, and this Sauternes does have a tendency to improve greatly during its barrel maturation. Score - 87-89.
